THE division two match in the Okehampton and district table tennis league between Anchorage and Horrabridge resulted in an 8-2 win for the former.

Bob Newcombe won his two singles, firstly against Roger Gilbert in four sets before beating Colin Jones 11-7 in the a hard fought match in the fifth.

Although young Chloe Greenaway and David Northey put up a good fight, the more experienced players were too strong for them.

The teams enjoyed a pleasant evening, especially the drinks and seasonal mince pies.

In a rearranged match between Horrabridge and Moretonhampstead. Moreton took a 2-0 lead — Will Hall losing a hard fought match against Ken Underhill.

The next was an equally close match between Ian Mulholland and Wendy Colin, playing her second league match for Moreton. She triumphed by 3-1 sets while Chloe Greenaway beat Richard Underhill before going on to beat Wendy Colin to level the score 3-3. Ian Mulholland won the next to put Horrabridge ahead but Moreton levelled again. Will Hall then beat Wendy Colin.

In the doubles there was a hard fought game between Will and Chloe against Ken and Wendy, who won after five sets to make it Horrabridge 5 Moretonhamstead 5.

Organisers congratulated Horrabridge on their premises and their coach Roger Bowkett.
