IN Division one this week of the Okehampton and District Table Tennis League Okehampton A were at home to Anchorage A.

Oke A raced into a 3-0 lead before Malcolm Hopkins saved the whitewash beating Karen Stephenson in four legs. Okehampton A went on to take the next five singles and the doubles for a 9-1 win with Steve Tyler and Steve Madge both scoring maximums.

Club rivals Anchorage B played Anchorage A. In a hard fought match but with a friendly atmosphere, the A side struggled with a lack of confidence with the B side taking advantage to win 7-3. Dave Wilson scored a maximum with Colin Brooker and Roger Gilbert each winning two.

Malcolm Hopkins and Colin Jones combined to take the doubles against Wilson and Brooker.

Tavistock were at home to Okehampton A. Despite Nick Davis scoring a maximum, Tavistock went down 4-6 with Angharad Beman winning their other singles.

Steve Tyler and Steve Madge won two singles each and Karen Stephenson and Madge took the doubles against Davis and Beman.

Okehampton D were at home to North Wyke. The visitors went into a 2-0 lead with Tom Misselbrook beating Sarah Jackson and Enrique Cancer-Berroya beating Luke Bennett.

Mari Baldwin won the next for Oke D against Yushu Zhang and went on to score a fine maximum, helping her side to a 6-4 win.

In the only division two match this week, Moretonhampstead played Horrabridge A, who went into a 2-0 lead with Jill Northey beating Richard Underhill and Crispin Jordan beating Jude Shea.

David May got one back for Moretonhampstead and went on to complete his maximum. Underhill and Shea won one singles each for Moretonhampstead and Shea combined with May to take the doubles for a final 6-4 win for Moretonhampstead.
