Carlsberg South West division one East Liverton 1 Tavistock AFC 6 THE Lambs opened their new season in the east division with an emphatic win over a Liverton side that had an impressive pre-season results. The game started at a fast pace, with both teams settling down to play some good football. Tavistock soon got their passing game flowing and deservedly took the lead after only 12 minutes when Kendall quickly taken free kick found Clark, and his fine cross into the penalty area was headed home by Kelvin Finboy. Seven minutes later Carlton Farnham almost extended the lead but his shot was just wide of the target. The Lambs were now dominating the game with some excellent passing football, which enabled both Finboy and Farnham to cause the home defence real problems, with their pace and close control skills. The movement off the ball was superb during this passage of play and it was no surprise when Lewis Daw powered home a header from a Dave Hallett corner kick, in the 38th minute to put the Lambs 2-0 up. The visitors continued to press forward, and following another superb move Carlton Farnham's defence splitting pass released Kelvin Finboy, who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing home keeper. Then shortly before the interval the Lambs made it four, when good work by Finboy allowed Dave Hallett to cross to the far post where Harry Southcott was on hand to fire home from 10 yards. In the opening period of the second half the home team, playing with the strong breeze, came more into the game. The Lambs let their tempo and urgency drop during this period and it was during this period that that they reduced the arrears in the 55th minute when following a goal mouth scramble Ollie Aplin to fire home from six yards. This stirred the Lambs back into action and they really turned the screw on Liverton as they stepped up a gear and increased their lead. In the 67th minute a great move down the right saw Finboy cut into the penalty area, for his pass to allow Jarryd Kelly to score number five. Substitutes Josh Robbins and Dan Archer replaced Southcott and Kendall, as Tavistock continued to dominate the game. Jordan William came on in place of Farnham for the last ten minutes. With four minutes remaining the Lambs once again ripped the home defence apart as Finboy found Dan Follett who headed home from six yards to complete the scoring as they cruised through to a fine victory. Manager Kevin Hendy was pleased with the performance. He said: 'In spells today I thought we played some terrific football and caused them problems in their final third all afternoon. I was delighted to get this campaign off to a winning start, coming away from home and winning so emphatically was also very pleasing. 'I was also delighted to see so many people involved at Tavistock, all with smiles back on their faces after last season's disappointment.'
