IN division one of the Okehampton and District Table Tennis League, the Mixtures were at home against leaders Tavistock. Tavistock went into a 6-0 lead before Steve Tyler saved the whitewash by beating Roger Bowkett — Tavistock won 9-1.

Tavistock then took on Academy who made them work hard in a 6-4 win. Tom Pearce did well to beat Dan Howell and Roger Bowkett. Ben Hill beat Peter Hicks and Tom Pengelly beat Roger. Dan Howell and Peter Hicks both won two singles each. Roger and Fred Phillips won the doubles for a 6-4 win for Tavistock to put them 24 points ahead in the league.

The next match saw Okehampton A play the Mixtures. John Down and John Squire both scored maximums, and Sarah scored two singles for Oke A. Steve Tyler beat Sarah in four legs to save the whitewash. John Down and John Squire won the doubles against Ivor Copley and Steve Tyler for a 9-1 win for Okehampton A.

Bridestowe played the Mixtures. Mark Fogerty played his first match of the season and scored a maximum as did Phil Down to help Bridestowe to race into a 8-0 lead. Karen Stephenson saved the drubbing beating Francis Griffiths in the last singles. Francis and Phil Down won the doubles against Karen and Martin Rose for a 9-1 win for Bridestowe.

In division two Okehampton C played Okehampton B. Frank Cockburn and Richard Rose both scored maximums for the C side. Mark Ralph did well to push Ben Bolton all the way, losing out in the fifth leg. There was another fifth leg decider this time John Howick did well to beat Ben 3-2. Dick Randell beat Ben in three legs. Richard and Ben beat John and Mark in the doubles for a 8-2 win for Oke C.

Walkhampton played league leaders Milton Abbot A who raced into a 6-0 lead before Heath Marker pull one back for Walkhampton beating Michael Blatchford in four. Callum Sherrell did well to beat Ian Osbourne who won the first leg but Callum won the next three for the second for Walkhampton. Tim Westcott scored a fine maximum for Milton Abbot A and joined Michael to win the doubles against Callum and Ben Edmunds for a 8-2 win for Milton Abbot A.

Milton Abbot A were at home against club rivals Milton Abbot B. The A side took a 3-0 lead Lonie Cherrington playing her first league match of the season pulled one back for the B side doing well to beat Tim Westcott in four legs Rob Evans won the next against Michael Blatchford to make the score 3-2. The A side then stepped up a gear winning the next four singles and the double for a 8-2 win for the A side. Ottila Pochat scored her seventh maximum of the season to keep her 100% record.

The last match saw Horrabridge play Moretonhampstead, who could only field two men. Ken Underhill put Moretonhampstead ahead against Dan Bashford Chloe pulled one back beating Brian Skilton. Ken and Brian went on to take the next four singles and the doubles for a 6-4 win for Moretonhampstead.
