If you’re looking to cut your wedding budget and/or your wedding guest list then maybe an elopement wedding is for you.

Elopement weddings have become increasingly popular after covid and now the Cost of Living Crisis. Luckily Tavistock has an elopement wedding specialist right on our door step. They've been hosting elopement weddings since 2016 and since 2022, they're the only type of wedding they offer.

Where?

Ever After at Lower Grenofen is tucked away on the edge of Dartmoor on the border of the National Park in 46 acres of woodland on the banks of the river Walkham.

The venue is licensed for legal weddings by Devon County Council and they're open for elopement weddings in March, April, May, September, October, November and December. The venue is closed in the other months of the year.

You can get married at the venue at midday on a Tuesday or a Thursday in the oak framed wedding barn and in the warmer months you can get married outside in the beautiful landscaped gardens.

Guests

Although elopements with no guests are very popular, you can add up to 6 guests in March, November and December and 10 guests (plus the two of you) in April, May, September and October.

And guests can include your dog. There are some house rules about them - they need to be well behaved and not jump in the ponds but if they can tick those boxes, they’ll be welcome guests.

You don't have to finalise your guest numbers when you book. You can book for the two of you and add (or reduce) guests later. You can change guest numbers up to a week before the wedding with a full refund for any reduction in guest numbers.

What's included?

This is a full elopement package combining the best of everything inclusive and bespoke. You get:

· a bouquet and buttonhole designed specially for you.

· an hour's photography with Ever After’s photographer.

· two nights in the on-site honeymoon cottage

· a bottle of champagne and canapes for a drinks reception after your ceremony

· a 3 course wedding breakfast and an evening mezze platter for you and any guests

· a wedding cake made specially for you. You choose the flavour, the filling and the decoration.

What do you have to arrange?

The venue takes care of pretty much everything for you. You have to book the Registrars for the ceremony - they can't do that for you. You also have to give legal notice of marriage where you live. Other than that, Ever After takes care of all the set up, clear down and on-the-day co-ordination. They let you know where you have to be and when so you don't have to worry about a thing.

All the decor and styling you see on their website is all created bespoke to each wedding and included in the price.

The venue can make recommendations for hair and make up or you can bring your own people if you prefer.

How to get more information Ever After have a website with all the info you need and a ton of photos of elopement weddings they’ve held there. They’ve also got a downloadable brochure on their website and an online availability calendar so you can check if they've got a date to suit you. Follow them on Instagram and facebook for more photos and info. And you can email Nicola directly at [email protected] for any questions you’ve got.
