The Tavistock Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) is preparing for Remembrance Sunday and the annual Poppy Appeal, bringing together local organisations, uniformed youth groups and the wider community to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country.
Poppy Appeal collecting tins and boxes have been distributed to local shops, pubs and other outlets. The RBL will also collect on the streets of Tavistock from 27 October to 7 November, under its collecting licence from West Devon Borough Council. On Saturday 7 November, Army and RAF Cadets will join the street collections, while local Scouts will support the appeal with a poppy table in Tesco. The RBL is grateful to these young volunteers for giving up their time.
The evening before Remembrance Sunday, St Eustachius Church will host Mount Kelly for an evening of music and song, with all proceeds donated to the Poppy Appeal.
