FOR the last 40 years, they have performed before royalty and to audiences throughout the UK, Canada, Spain, the Middle East and Central America. Soon, the legendary Wurzels will bring the essence of West Country humour and music to The Wharf. It was in 1966 that The Wurzels released their record, ?Drink up Thy Zider?. More than 100,000 copies were quickly sold and the group went on to appear in the David Frost, Simon Dee and other popular television shows. Ten years later, The Wurzels had a massive hit with ?Combine Harvester? ? a take-off of an earlier pop song, ?Brand New Key?. The Wurzels are as famous for their television appearances as for their live shows. Among others, they have performed on ?Blue Peter?, the ?Generation Game? and on the BBC?s Steve Coogan show. They can be heard even on a television advertisement for a well-known brand of rice pudding. For a true taste of the West Country, Tavistock audiences can enjoy the music and fun of a live performance by The Wurzels at The Wharf, Tavistock on August 15. Box office on 01822 611166.
