PLAYED on a wet and skiddy pitch the match proved to be both close and entertaining with Lamerton eventually coming out on top. They had chances to take the lead before Paul Cowling laid the ball square for Zak Beesley to rifle it into the net.
The visitors came back strongly however and equalized when Sean German picked the ball up near the halfway line and beat three men before blasting in a great goal from long range. Lamerton got the important second goal just before half-time when Beesley fed Cowling and the striker made no mistake from inside the box.
Ten minutes into the second half Cowling made it 3-1 from a narrow angle and later was only denied a hat-trick when the ball hit the inside of the post only to rebound into the arms of the Foxhole keeper.
The Lamerton defence played solidly in the second half whilst the midfield covered acres of ground in the strength sapping conditions to ensure a well earned victory over a good footballing side.
This Saturday Lamerton travel to Newmoor for a league fixture. Kick off 2.30pm.
