North Okes U13s 26

Teignmouth U13s 14

NORTH Okes had to battle hard before Dan Fogerty danced round the opposition to score under the post.

Scrum half  Ben Sharp linked the forwards and backs well with slick passing along the line to Ollie Crimmins who made many breaks up the centre and was rewarded with a try which fullback Jack Davey converted with a difficult kick.

Teignmouth's tackling was on form not allowing North Okes the space out wide that they would have liked. North Okes tackling was not so strong and allowed the visitors to come back into the game.

Matt Milton and Ryan Gross worked hard for North Okes in the forwards as did Liam Michel going on many powerful drives up the pitch dragging in Teignmouth's defence allowing Charlie Goldsworthy to force his way over just before time.

THEe home side made the most of early possession with a number of good attacking moves which eventually led to them taking a 5-0 lead from scrum close to the Tavistock line.

However this lead was short lived and cancelled out by a fine try from Charlie Charlton who drove over after a pick up from a five metre scrum. The visitors strong running started to put them on top in the encounter, and it was from another fine forward run by Will Slater that they scored their second try to take a 10-5 lead.

The back line now came into play for Tavistock and they took control just before half time with a strong burst from is own half by centre Daniel Dobie to go into the break with a 15-5 advantage.

The second half again saw the home side making the most of their powerful forwards linking up with their quick running backs and it took a massive defensive effort by the visitors to hold up from close range on two occasions.

Alex Ferguson, Barney Megicks, Charlie Carter, David Hocking and James Perring did well to keep the home side at bay in some tight mauls. The deadlock was broken in an even second period when Daniel Dobie again broke through the defence following a scrum to cross for his second try.

OKEHAMPTON looked a bit rusty and there were a few dropped passes in the first few minutes, but this soon showed the form of their past few matches.

After some strong running by the forwards and quick ball to the backs Harry Williams dived in to score the first of his two tries.

Never came a penalty move, which was scored by Callum Hughes, who dived in between two defenders.

In the second half the forwards forced the Launceton pack backwards and after Hallum Chapman made a great run the ball was recycled for Brad Curtis to score in the corner.

Two more identical pieces of play with forwards and backs linking up well resulted in tries for Sam Stratton and Reece Peacock. Freddie Fishleigh converted four tries, which rounded off a good win.

THIS was A fine away victory for Okehampton as they snatched Launceston's unbeaten record with a victory based on determination, grit and tenacity.

The Okes started slowly and Launceston took an early lead before the Okes began to gain a foothold and the scores were level after a fine, powerful solo score from man of the match Gregory Daniel.

The score remained even until the second half when it was another score form Gregory Daniel that brought the victory. The terrier like work rate of all the boys contributed to this hard earned win.

IN the second match of the morning Ollie Ardon brought the scores level after an excellent dash up the flank. Leon Horne crossed for a typical try to give the Okes a slender lead, but they were pegged back near the end of the match.
