Okehampton Argyle U12s 1 Barnstaple Youth 14 BARNSTAPLE only needed a point to secure their position at the top of the table and they came out attacking from the start. Okehampton made some good runs; Corey Burns was unlucky when a superb through ball just trickled away from him. Play switched back to Barnstaple and they scored their first. Okehampton fought back and from a good throw in Corey chipped the keeper who fumbled the save to make it 1-1. Barnstaple raised their game and scored three goals in quick succession despite the valiant efforts of the Okehampton defence. The second half started and Barnstaple increased their lead shortly after kick off. Okehampton?s only real chance in the second half came when Bradley made an excellent effort to chip the keeper. Harry followed the shot in and was unlucky not to finish. Barnstaple continued to put on the pressure and despite excellent saves from Hayden and good defending from Tom Bullingham the final score was Okehampton 1 Barnstaple 14. Okehampton U10s 25 Dorset U10s 5 ANOTHER fantastic win for the Okehampton U10s team. Some really good rucks, scrums and tackles by both sides with the Dorset U10s champions making it a fairly evenly balanced game. Giles Heard pushed his way through to score the first try, followed by three tremendous tries by Calum Pillivant, finished off by Joshua Bickley who scored the final try. Excellent play and a fine try by Dorset was not enough to stop Luke Liversidge from bringing down a lot of the opposition?s players with his spectacular tackles. Alfie Hawker and Ike Francis played some superb rugby, ripping the ball out of the opposition?s hands and performing some fine ruck overs to allow the team to push forward at every available moment. To end the season the parents thanked Steve Francis ? his unfailing support and guidance has made the U10s team into what it is today.
