DJM Royal Oak U16s league

Ivybridge 1

Tavistock Thistles 3

AT the start of the day these two sides were level at the top of the league on nine points each but with Thistles having played four matches to the hosts' three. The opening 45 minutes was even and half-time was reached goalless.

The hosts took the lead early in the second period when they capitalised on a rare moment of indecision in the Thistles backline.

Thistles showed good character to take the match to Ivybridge and score three goals to claim a deserved win. Ben Farrar opened Thistles scoring when he cut in from the right and bent the ball inside the far post. Glenn Tremblett tapped home from six yards for the second when the ball fell to him after a freekick was not cleared. The third goal came thanks to good work from Farrar who won the ball, beat two defenders and crossed for Tremblett to side foot home.

Tavistock Thistles U16s 3

THISTLES made the long journey to Axminster on Sunday and it proved to be a worthwhile one as, after a goalless opening half, they scored three times to secure this first round victory.

Michael Johnson, Glenn Tremblett and Ray Wood were the men on target.

Okehampton Argyle U16s 1

Brixington Blues 5

ARGYLE looked good and were unlucky early in the game when Ausden made a good run but was closed down by the Blues defence.

The Blues were the first to score and Argyle had to step up the pace. Some great defending from Donnelly and Lawrence kept Argyle from conceding another goal and the play switched to the other end with Argyle playing some great football; only brave defending from the Blues keeper stopped the equaliser. Ausden had a chance after he controlled the ball well and put it wide.

Argyle's defence took a blow when Lawrence came off injured. Blues took their chance and scored a goal from a well struck free kick.

Argyle started the second half well and Alden had a chance with a well taken free kick; the Blues keeper making another good save.

The Blues attackers picked up the goal kick and after a good run scored their third. Their fourth came shortly after from a goalmouth scramble. Argyle seemed despondent and the Blues scored a soft goal to make it 0-5. Argyle were awarded a penalty just before the final whistle which Alden put away.

DJM Howe League Cup

Tavistock Town U16s 4

Plymouth Falcons U16s 3

Tavistock reached the semi finals with a well earned victory against high flying Falcons at Kelly College on Saturday.

The home side gained an early lead when good work from Luke Koch left  Matt McClung with an easy tap in at the far post. The city side had previously won their last five games but Tavistock with their slick passing dominated the first half and added another two goals from the influential Charlie Gale to lead 3-0 at the break.

Soon after the interval they were four up when Pete Page pressurised the visitor's defence into a mistake and gave the keeper no chance with a delicately placed lob that clipped the bar before entering the net.  Falcons came back to scramble a goal. Their more direct approach aided by some pace up front gave the Tavistock back four, in which Matt White was a tower of strength, some work to do.

Another goal ten minutes from time put some pressure on the home side and this was increased in the last two minutes when Tommy Cole was adjudged to have handled the ball and the resultant penalty was dispatched with ease.

DJM Royal Oak U15s

Looe U15s 11

Tavistock Thistles U15s 3

THISTLES new shape enabled them to force Looe onto the defensive for the first 20 minutes.

This pressure told when Thistles took the lead after a good through ball allowed James Scrivenor to slot the ball past the on-rushing keeper.  Thistles piled forward and applied the pressure and got their rewards when the ball broke out from the Looe defence enabling Will Hall to lob the ball over the keeper with a well placed shot.

Despite this bright start and some good goalkeeping from the impressive Roger Blandford Thistles went into the half time break at 2-2 after a couple of break away goals from Looe.

Thistles started the second half with good passing and work rate from all the players. Will Hall doubled his tally passing the ball into the net following a superb pass from Abdul Abubaker.

The Thistles defence had performed outstandingly for 60 minutes, but fatigue took its toll. Looe burst into life and started to score at will throughout the last 20 minutes, bypassing the Thistles team with little or no resistance.

Tavistock Thistles U14s 1

DESPITE the scoreline Thistles continue to improve, matching their opponents for most of the game.  Thistles goalkeeper and their player of the match Josh Monger made several great saves and new recruit Peter Bradley is a great asset in defence.  Thistles worked hard throughout the game, showing great spirit and were rewarded by a goal from Pete Jarman, who outwitted the Elm defence and scored from outside the penalty area.

Friary Mill U13s  6

Tavistock Thistles  U13s 2

THE versatile Charlie Charlton started the first half in Thistles' goal. It took Friary just three minutes to open the scoring. Despite creating several opportunities, a lack of concentration from Thistles allowed Friary to score twice more. Towards the end of the first half, away player of the match Harry Miskelly scored to reduce the deficit with an excellent lob from the half way line.

In the second half Isaac Jeffery came on in goal with Charlton moving into midfield. The half time changes appeared to work as Thistles quickly forced a Friary own goal. Thistles good work was undone a minute later when another lapse of concentration gifted Friary their fourth. Despite Tom Calvert and Yuri Costello linking up well and providing a constant threat on the right side, Thistles could not find the net again and Friary scored twice more to seal a deserved win.

BEFORE the game both sides were level at the top of the league on nine points each.

The opening 45 minutes was fairly even and with both teams cancelling each other out to make it goalless at half time.

The hosts took the lead early in the second half when they capitalised on a rare moment of indecision in the Thistles backline.

Thistles responded well to this and showed good character to take the match to Ivybridge and score three goals to claim a deserved win.  Ben Farrar opened the Thistles scoring when he cut inside from the right and bent the ball inside the far post.  Glenn Tremblett tapped home from six yards to give his side the lead.

The third goal came thanks to good work from Farrar who won the ball some 20 yards from goal, beat two defenders and crossed to Tremblett to side foot home from close range.

Horrabridge Rangers 3

Keyham Colts 4

IN this top of the table clash it was Keyham who took the lead after three minutes when Fisher scored at the back post. Horrabridge then started to dominate play for the remainder of the half playing some good passing football and managed to find an equaliser courtesy of a Josh Birch strike. Keyham regained the lead against the run of play when Fisher scored right at the end of the half.

Horrabridge started the second half well and created a host of chances with Birch, Burgess and Johnson all being denied by some good goalkeeping and defending by Keyham.

The home side equalised after Birch powerfully headed home Courtney Fry's pin-point corner. Horrabridge had to play the final 20 minutes with only 10 players as they lost goalkeeper Oliver Cox through injury. Jack Northam took over in goal and made several smart saves. With 10 minutes of the game left, Keyham scored twice and although Horrabridge scored late on through a good Courtney Fry strike, Keyham just held on and claimed the points.

DJM U14s Raleigh

Horrabridge Rangers 5

Woolwell Juniors 0

THIS was a game in which Horrabridge dominated from start to finish courtesy of playing some good passing football. Josh Birch opened the scoring after 15 minutes when he scored with a brilliant strike from 20 yards. Horrabridge continued to create a host of chances but were guilty of wayward shooting and denied by the visiting keeper who kept his side in the game time after time. Billy Rawlinson added a second for Horrabridge as he tapped home from close range after good work from Courtney Fry.

The second half was similar to the first as Horrabridge dominated but were again guilty of not taking their chances. Rawlinson scored his second of the game as he volleyed home Fry's corner from six yards.

James Dent also scored with a good strike after good build up play between Birch and Max Burgess. Woolwell's keeper pulled off a string of saves to keep the score respectable but he was helpless in preventing Max Burgess from scoring five minutes from time as he beat three defenders before thundering the ball home from 10 yards.

North Devon plate semi-final

North Molton Stags U14s 0

Okehampton Argyle U14s 1

THE game itself was an even affair and Argyle's players found themselves with little time on the ball as the opposition worked hard to prevent them playing their passing game.

Argyle took the lead halfway through the first half, with Greg Jones using his pace to get in behind his oponents centre half and tuck the ball into the corner of North Molton's goal.

Some great work in defence from Eddie Packer and a couple of brilliant saves from keeper Ollie Richards, who was brilliant throughout the match, preserved Oke's slender lead.

In the second half Oke played with real determination, and with a little luck, as North Molton squandered some chances in front of goal.  Argyle managed to hang on in a with a gritty performance.

Heavitree U13s 5

Okehampton Argyle U13s 3

ARGYLE started this game slowly and within five minutes found themselves two goals down. This gave them a mountain to climb but they battled strongly and managed to pull one goal back to go into half time 2-1.

The second half saw a closely fought battle from a very strong Heavitree side. The away team found the net again, Argyle responded with a goal of their own which was closely followed by a fourth from Heaviree. Argyle played some great football and were denied plenty of chances by the superb Heavitree keeper. Both teams scored again to finish this exciting game 5-3.

Alphington Tigers U13s 1

Okehampton Argyle U13s 9

ARGYLE refound their form this week and started well in this cup match dominating the game from start to finish.

The first two goals came from set pieces, the first powerfully headed in by Ben Jarvis the second slotted in by Tallan Burns.

This gave Okehampton lots of confidence and they started passing the ball around well.

Okehampton scored a further four goals before half term, two from Ross Voaden, one each from Ben Jarvis and Ollie Crimmins.

In the second half subs were brought on and Oke kept the pressure on scoring another three goals, a second for Ollie Crimmins and another two from Ross Voaden.

Horrabridge Rangers U10s 3

Morley Rangers U10s 1

HORRABRIDGE played a great compettitive game against Morley. They played a great passing game with Daniel Cole outstanding in Defence and Oliver Gould doing some excellent tackles setting up the ball again and again for Tom Burgess to make the shot.
