TAVISTOCK Youth Café has announced its re-opening following a period of closure after a car rolled down into the side of the building last month. On June 8 the hand-brake of a car failed and the vehicle rolled from the car park above, down a sloping bank and through a boundary brick wall and into the café?s exterior wall. Since the accident, the youth café has been assessed by a structural engineer. Following his report, the youth café can re-open to young people as the building is structurally safe. The repairs to the building are due to take place during the summer holidays but will not disrupt the opening hours of the café. The café provides a meeting place, snack and coffee bar for young people between the ages of 13 and 19, who can also use advice and information services from professionals and youth workers at the centre. Tavistock Youth Café expressed thanks to all the community for their support since the incident and the closure of the café.
