A SERVICE for special needs children and teenagers has now begun at the Tavistock Youth Café in Pixon Lane. The Monday evening service was established by four parents from Tavistock and Princetown who found there were no groups in the area where their special needs children could socialise. Tavistock Youth Café Plus is held every Monday between 5pm and 8pm and costs only £1 subscription. The Monday session has been compared with a drop-in centre where youngsters can go and meet other children, from Tavistock and the surrounding area, in a ?safe environment?. During the group sessions children can play on the playstation, watch DVDs, and play games with other children. One of the parents on the group?s committee, Sheena Lewis, who has a six-year old autistic son, said: ?This provides children with a place to go where it is comfortable for them.?
