CORNWALL Council has released its draft budget and is calling for residents to give their views at a budget engagement event. Cornwall Council has said it is facing significant budget challenges, like most other councils across the country. By 2018/19 it has to make savings totalling £196-million. A spokesperson for Cornwall Council said: 'With such a huge challenge, we face the unenviable task of having to decide where and how to reduce our services or increase income and to do this we need to hear from our partners, businesses and communities about which services they believe should be a priority.' Printed copies of the draft budget are available from One Stop Shops and libraries. The council is holding public meetings during October and there will be one at Callington on October 6 at 7pm in the council chamber on New Road.
