OKEHAMPTON Rugby Club held its Youth Presentation evening recently.

The club ran nine teams last season from Under 7?s through to Under 15?s.

Over 120 players contributed to a very successful season with some stunning rugby played at both youth and mini level. The club was crammed full of players and their families for an evening of celebration and to present the players awards.

The U10?s and U11?s are combined Okehampton and North Tawton teams and without the cooperation of the 2 clubs neither could run a squad at these age groups.

The top try score for the mini?s was won by Matthew Johns of the U9?s with 28 tries, narrowly beating Andrew North of the U11?s with 25 tries.

Richard Bolt of the U15?s won the top points score for the youth with 133 points. Richard has also represented Devon Schools ?A? team for the whole season and will play in a 10 a side festival over the May bank holiday representing Devon. In addition Richard will be attending the South West and England development squad training sessions this summer.

U15 Andy Herrod-Taylor attended a county kicking competition for U21?s representing Okehampton RFC and was narrowly beaten into second place by 10 points.

The annual meeting for the youth is on Tues 24th June at 7.30 at the club. Anyone who can offer help is asked to attend or contact Jon Herrod-Taylor on 01837 840742.

Next Sunday May 4th Sponsored cycle ride / barbecue leaving Okehampton station at 11.00am. All youth and families welcome.
