THIS week has seen a packed programme of events taking part in Tavistock, as the town's Lions Club stages the annual carnival week.
Last weekend saw the traditional baby show take place on Saturday, followed by the fun day in the Meadows, which included the crowning of the carnival princess and the competition to find Tavistock's new town crier.
This week there has been a treasure hunt, pavement artists' competition and tonight (Thursday), the town relay races will take place in the Meadows.
Carnival day itself is this Saturday.
Throughout the day there will be a fair in the town centre and the grand parade leaves Down Road at 6.30pm, when a cavalcade of colourful floats will set off around the streets.
The carnival draw will be staged at 8pm on Saturday night in Bedford Square.
