THE primary schools tag rugby event at Tavistock Rugby Club saw all the schools perform at a high standard — despite the cold!
In the large schools' competition competing were — Tavistock Primary, Bere Alston, St Peters, Bickleigh Down, Whitchurch and St Andrew's. After some close matches Whitchurch came through triumphant winning all of their games.
There were two leagues running for the small schools — the winners of pool one were Milton Abbot closely followed by Gulworthy.
Pool two was won by Lamerton with Walkhampton the runers-up. So in the semi finals Milton Abbot played Walkhampton and Lamerton played Gulworthy.
After two very thrilling games in the final it was Milton Abbot and Gulworthy — Gulworthy ended triumphant winning the small schools title for this year.
Thanks went to Mhairi McCall for all her help and support from the rugby club, but also to the Young Ambassadors Katie Scorer and Joel Blatchford for helping run the event; Simon Beatty (Tavistock Primary) and Paula Draper (Horrabridge Primary) who organised all the teams. Also Beth Neave, Cathy O'Boyle, Jack Glover, Hallam Bourton and Keith Bowden for all their hard work refereeing the matches.
