CHILDREN and practitioners at The Old School Children's Centre have been working hard to raise money for children and families who are in need of support through trying times.

The children hosted a coffee morning at The Old School for members of their family and friends and every year, take part in the Children's Hospice South West's cream tea event in Whitchurch Village Hall.

Taking their teddies along, complete with bandages and plasters, and singing songs to the community, this year the children were pleased to have met West Devon's mayor, Robin?Musgrave, and have a chance to look at the mayoral chain.

The event raised £94.29 overall.

Children also organised a 'bring and donate' event in which toys and equipment no longer needed were exchanged for something more useful, leaving a donation in the pot. They collected £30.

Children and staff also worked hard to create their spectacular 'Big Red Bus' float for Tavistock Carnival this year. Thanks were expressed to Neal Stoneman Scaffolding for supplying the lorry and fuel. The children were thrilled to win best in class and best in brocession and donated the £350 they won, and the money from the 'bring and donate' event, to the neo natal intensive care unit at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol as a thank you for taking great care of a local child and his family during a difficult time.
