TAVISTOCK Gymnastics Club celebrated their 24th birthday with the annual presentations evening.

Awards were presented by chairman Babette Jackson to: — older group: Rebecca Biddiss, best gymnast; Hannah Smith, progress shield; Joanna Austin, certificate of personal achievement.

Younger group: Alice Pawlik, best gymnast; Rebecca Stephens, progress shield; Chloe Greep, the Peggy Harbottle shield for the gymnast putting in the greatest effort.

The Peggy Harbottle, shield is awarded at half termly intervals and during the year has been held by Holly Brimble, Hannah French, Charlotte Herdman and Naomi Beckett.

Rebecca Biddiss, Joanna Austin and Heather Dutton were commended for four years' loyalty to the club and together with Katie Langton will be progressing their skills further with Swallows Gymnastics Club in their purpose-built facility at Derriford.

Tavistock Gymnastics Club meets on Tuesday evenings in the gymnasium at Tavistock College and accepts girls from the age of five years.

The club chairman thanked committee members Helen Smith, Sarah Wooley and Sue Beckett for their hard work during the year and welcomed Sarah French as the new club secretary.

The autumn term begins on Tuesday, September 26 when the younger girls will continue to concentrate on basic skills and safety, while the older girls will be working towards their BAGA awards.
