TAVISTOCK Young Farmer's Club have impressed audiences for the third time to be crowned winners at the South West Area round of the National Young Farmers' Club Drama Competition.

The Tavistock club, which was representing Devon, gave a brilliant performance of their one-act play 'Some Mother's Son', written by Mark Rees, at Weymouth Pavilion.

They had already beaten off other clubs in Devon in the previous two rounds and this time were again placed first by three judges, beating teams representing Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset and Gloucestershire.

Tavistock cast members George Steer, Nick Cole, Zoe Cole, Phil Blowey, Sabrina Doidge, Emma Cole, Emma Barkwill, Kelly Hughes, Nicole Ball, Rosie Dodd, Beth Abel, Megan Abel, Rhys Hughes, Jonny Cole and Mark Radmore, will now go on to represent the South West and compete at the South of England round, taking place on April 7 in Cheltenham.

The Tavistock Young Farmers' Club is inviting the public to a finger buffet and draw at its pre-competition rehearsal at Kelly College this evening (Thursday) at 7.30pm. Entrance is £5 on the door.

The cast members expressed thanks to producers of the play Jayne Medland and Liz Moir for their time, patience and all their help, which have allowed Tavistock Young Farmers to get this far.
