GREENLANDS saw the grand opening of a new children?s play park last week after two years of fundraising. Invited guests attended the opening, including mayor Jenny Metcalf, Cllr Ted Sherrell and Andy Ames from West Devon Homes. However, two very special guests were invited to open the new park. Michael Cole who was the first child to slide down the original Greenlands park slide in 1953, officially opened the area, with assistance from 12-year-old Chris Hull who tested out the slide after raising £100 for the park?s fund. The parks committee expressed thanks to all who contributed to the fund and especially West Devon Homes Tenant Panel, the Local Network Fund and WDBC. The Greenlands play park is now open for all children to enjoy.
