CREATIVE young artists in the Okehampton area are being sought to come up with Christmas card designs for a competition being launched at the town's agricultural show today (Thursday).

The winning design will be turned into Okehampton firm Moorland Fuels company Christmas cards and the winner will receive a family day out at Crealy Adventure Park. The company will also donate £25 to a charity of the winner's choosing.

'The theme for the art contest is a Christmassy scene,' said Moorland Fuels managing director Ben More.

'We are excited to see what the children design. We could have Father Christmas driving our tanker instead of a sleigh, a snowy Dartmoor landscape or even our tanker following the star.'

To make designing the Christmas cards a little easier, Moorland Fuels has created templates of its tanker.  The goal is to turn the tanker into works of art by adding colourful designs to the body of the tanker and adding scenery around the vehicle.

To enter the contest, applicants must be 14 or under.  Templates for the tanker can be downloaded from www, moorlandfuels.comor hard copies can be picked up at the Moorland Fuels trade stand at the Okehampton and Chagford shows. The deadline for entries is September 30, 2012.

The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges comprised of Moorland Fuels employees and its supplier BWOC.  The top entries will be displayed on the Moorland Fuels website.
