MAY I congratulate Bere Alston United FC on their excellent football season.
The team are Duchy League division 3 champions, they won the Division 3 cup and last Thursday they won the Duchy League Knock out cup.
The other finalist was Duchy Premier league champions Dobwalls. Dobwalls were the favourites and their undisputed fine record confirmed this. On the night, however, it was Bere Alston who played the controlled football and took their limited chances in a clinical manner.
Bere Alston are the only division 3 side to reach this final and to win this cup was a great achievement.
On the way to the final, Bere beat other premier sides like Boscastle and St Dominick. Ironically, their toughest cup game was with division 4 side North Hill. Bere needed a replay to overcome them.
Well done, Bere, congratulations to your hard working committee, your dedicated manager Carl Gatcum and all the players. You have done Bere Alston proud.
