Premier Cup semi final second leg Gunnislake 4 Boscastle 2 TRAILING 2-1 from the first leg Boscastle made the running in the opening stages, but it was Gunnislake that opened the scoring on 10 minutes. Ian Gray played a ball long into the channel for Jarryd Kelly to chase down. A visiting defender reached the ball first but under pressure from Kelly he over-hit his attempted back pass to send the ball over his own keeper?s head and into the goal. Gunnislake defended well and when their rear guard was breached Andy Brenton was more than able to deal with the danger. The home side created some decent openings and five minutes before the turn-around player manager Andy Southcott converted one of these. On the stroke of half-time a Boscastle player won through on goal. Brenton was out quickly and ensured he made no contact but having over-run the ball the attacker went flying and unjustly gained his team a penalty kick. But this was shot wide. Within two minutes of the restart the visitors scored. On 60 minutes Boscastle were reduced to 10 men. The home side kept defending well as a team and were again thankful to Brenton who made a double save. Stuart Wakenshaw converted a Southcott centre on 75 minutes. Boscastle scored but on 80 minutes Dave Yorath produced an excellent finish having received a sublime Wakenshaw pass to restore his team?s three goal cushion. With no further scoring Gunnislake recorded an excellent 6-3 aggregate win. Duchy Premier league Gunnislake 3 St Columb Major 4 GUNNISLAKE were the better side in the opening half in which they established a two nil lead, thanks to goals from Dave Yorath and Steve Cribb. The visitors performed well in the second half and took a 4-2 lead before Cribb scored with only seconds remaining. Gunnislake 8 St Newlyn East 0 WITHIN 24 hours of the St Columb defeat Gunnislake bounced back to record an emphatic win. With three goalkeepers not available Steff Kelly went in goal and while not often troubled he dealt well with all that he had to. The scorching suggests this was an easy win but it was only in the last 25 minutes that Gunnislake dominated, having taken a 3-0 lead. Jarryd Kelly led the way with another hat-trick. Dave Yorath grabbed a brace, with the scoring completed by Matt Avery, Darren Sambells and Tom Wakenshaw. This Saturday Boscastle visit Gunnislake for a league match with a 2.30 kick-off.
