A WEST Devon woman has been recognised by Devon Guides for her 49-year active service within the movement.
Christina Long actually joined the Guides 53 years ago, when she became a member of Greenwich division in London, and carried on her involvement as an adult.
Mrs Long, who lives at Upper Metherell, has been involved as a guide leader with 1st Halwill Rainbow Guide Unit, ever since moving to the area 12 years ago.
She said: ?I am going to miss being with the children, but I am still going to be keeping in touch with the guiding movement.?
Mrs Long was presented with a certificate to mark her retirement by the county commissioner Mrs Kate Harding, at Halwill Baptist Hall last Thursday.
The guide pack also marked her retirement by holding a tea party followed by a sing-song.
