A VOTE of thanks was given to former councillor Michael Endean last month for his 22 years of service to Bere Ferrers Parish Council. During his years of service Cllr Endean held the roles of councillor, chairman and vice-chairman. The May meeting also saw chairman Cllr Bev Slaughter thanked councillors for their support over the last four years of the former council, and during his year of office. Cllr Slaughter was re-elected as chairman for a second term of office and Cllr Brian Lamb was elected as vice-chairman. Councillors were recently told that a new youth worker, Jen Potts, has been appointed to the Bere Peninsula. She started work on May 2 and is a part time youth worker based at the Hut in Bere Alston and will extend the present drop-in service for teenagers.
