SPITFIRE fans can enjoy a weekend of memorabilia at Yelverton on April 21 and 22. The Spitfire Society South West Region will be holding a special event in the Knightstone Tearooms with archive material from RAF Harrowbeer and a memorabilia shop. With the latest update on their progress in the rebuilding of a full size model of the Spitfire aeroplane will be the 'Spitfire Boys' from Paignton. Archive material from Harrowbeer will include copies of operation record books and photographs, Harrowbeer Interest Group display boards and military vehicles will be visiting throughout the weekend. Phase one of the Knightstone private collection of world war two artefacts and clothing will be on display for the first time, illustrating what was in use on and around RAF Harrowbeer during the 1940s. The Spitfire Society will hold its annual meeting as an outdoor meeting on Sunday at 3pm so any interested parties can attend. Times of opening are Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
