FOR those intrigued by the ancient art of dowsing, a practical workshop is being held on Saturday, May 7.
Former Bridestowe resident Charles Palmer will run the hands-on one-day workshop, which will look at how to find water courses, energy lines and ley lines.
Charles, who has more than ten years' experience in dowsing, said: 'Most people think dowsing is looking for water, but it was used for all sorts of things — looking for pipes and drains, searching for lost objects, finding the buried remains of buildings that have long gone and a lot more.
'Most people can dowse and I think it just needs someone to get them going.
'I started dowsing ten years ago after going to workshops myself and I became hooked.
'This is a practical hands-on day where learners will go away being able to do a bit on their own.'
The workshop takes place at Okehampton's Fairplace Church in the Gratton Room between 10.15am and 4.15pm, with the chance to go dowsing in Simmons Park in the afternoon.
The workshops costs £17 for the day, and there will be tea, coffee and cake on offer. Dowsing rods and pendulums will be supplied.
