AN ESTABLISHED writer and artist, who has strong links with Tavistock and West Devon, has brought out a new book to 'inspire the inner writer within'.

Patricia Helen Robins, who lived in Tavistock for more than 25 years before moving to South Devon, has brought out her latest publication 'Shower Gel' — which incites the reader to 'enter the flow of inspirational writing'.

She is perhaps better known in the town as Patricia Bruce and was a leading light of the Tavistock Group of Artists and co-founder of Mother Goose — one of the first hospice charity shops that used to be in Paddon's Row.  She also was very active with the Tavistock Twinning Association.

Patricia Helen Robins, described as 'a youthful 81-year-old,' has had a long and successful career as a writer, painter and illustrator with her works exhibited at many venues including the Theatre Royal in Plymouth, Totnes, Brixham and Tavistock.

Her paintings are in private collections in Paris, Sydney, Cape Town, Norway and America and she has produced three books filled with her spiritually inspired poetry — The Journey, Secrets in the Wind and Jewel in the Sun.

She encourages 'all seekers of truth to stand in the gentle flow of inspiration' and 'to record the pearls of comfort, wisdom, or understanding that flow into the quiet mind'.

She said: 'To achieve this we do not need great psychic powers, nor is it necessary to possess polished writing skills.

'Anyone who can write a shopping list can record small gems of personal comfort, or large jewels of universal truth.'
