WITH reference to the letter from K Vines in last week's Times, two words immediately sprang to mind, grapes and sour, whilst reading it. I really think he and his party need to get away from just speaking to the left Liberal Guardian reader fraternity and go down to the local Dog and Duck where they could speak to people who live and work in the real world. A lot of people did not wish to see a government of Labour controlled by unions and SNP whose only aim is to break up the UK while extracting the most they can out of the English (who pay most of the bills anyway). When the results started to come in I thought it an absolute hoot to see all the pundits, including the BBC shut down in flames, especially seeing Ed Balls face; this was the icing on the cake for me. I think democracy is a wonderful thing, even though I speak as a UKIP supporter with four million votes and only one MP. I just wish Europe was as democratic. So for the next five years live with it K Vines, but looking at your leadership battle there is not much hope I'm afraid. You could be waiting a lot longer. D P Hunter Tavistock
