HUNDREDS of athletes from across the south of England travelled to Devon on Saturday to compete in the South of England cross-country Championships held at Bicton College.

This historic and traditional sporting event, normally staged at Parliament Hill in London, was hosted by Exmouth Harriers with support from local clubs. Conditions were perfect with the near spring-like weather and wonderful setting of Bicton College and grounds.

Emma Passmore represented Tavistock in the U15 girls? race and with her usual strong finish crossed the line in overall 75th position.

In the U17 junior men?s race Tavistock was well represented with Adam Holland, Luke Dumper and Adam Tofield all turning out for the club. Holland finished in 66th place followed by Dumper in 81st place with Tofield in 109th place having picked up an injury in the early stages of the race.

In the senior menº?s event Martin Exley was the first Tavistock runner across the line in 214th place folloed by Jerry Rickeard in 286th position. Robin Musgrave was the next Tavistock runner home in 331st place with John Outhwaite in 484th place and Tim Powell in 610th place.
