I HAVE just spent the Christmas period convalescing in Harewood House — a dismal prospect you my think, however, I have just experienced a level of care and rehabilitation that has left me extremely impressed with the services they provide. I do not think that many people in Tavistock and the surrounding area realise that there is such a wonderful rehabilitation unit at Harewood.

In December I had a hip replacement including a bone graft at Derriford Hospital. Neither my family nor I could provide the level of care I needed to recover from such a major operation, therefore I was transferred to Harewood to convalesce.

I have been cared for around the clock by highly skilled therapists and other staff. I offer my highest praise, and I hope that the unit will be able to continue in this good work. The prospect of being in a home over Christmas was quite depressing, however, visits from Father (and Mother) Christmas, a stocking and a wonderful meal soon cheered everyone up!

I offer my deepest gratitude to the staff at Harewood. I hope this letter raises awareness of this unit, as it provides home from home comfort with all the reassurance of swift medical attention if any problems occur.
