WHAT a wonderful evening we had on Friday week. Dickensian this year must be one of the best — great atmosphere. The entertainment throughout the evening was a really good idea as was the increased activity along West Street and the Bank Square arts market.

Combined with the truly beautiful Christmas Tree Festival in our parish church, it made for a memorable evening. My congratulations to all involved. The only downside was the lack of additional bins during the evening, which sadly resulted in piles of rubbish next to existing bins which was still there on Saturday. Maybe a lesson could be learnt from Goose Fair when the streets are spotless the day after the night before?
