THIS Saturday, staff, volunteers and shoppers at Oxfam in Tavistock will be getting creative and making a rag rug in celebration of International Women's Day.
Visitors are invited to the shop in West Street anytime between 10am and 4pm to help create the rug, which will be made using recycled and donated fabrics, exclusive to Oxfam, to celebrate and raise money for International Women's Day.
Hessian will be used as the barebones of the rug then thin strips of re-used fabrics will be used to decorate the piece.
Oxfam shop manager Jacky Theobald, who helped create the event, said: 'This is a great opportunity for anyone to learn a new skill and lift the lives of women in other countries. Everybody is welcome and experience is not necessary.
'Everything will be provided so why not come along and keep us company with whatever time you can spare?'
When the rug is completed, it will be offered for sale to the Tavistock community with all profit going to the International Women's Day cause, which helps to change women's lives worldwide.
