FIREFIGHTERS from four different stations in West Devon attended a fire at a home along Plymouth Road in Tavistock on last Wednesday after 11pm. One appliance from Princetown, one from Yelverton, two from Tavistock, with the incident command vehicle and support appliance from Greenbank, tackled the blaze using four breathing apparatus and two hose reels. Firefighters rescued one elderly woman from the ground floor flat which was severely damaged by the fire and taken to hospital by an ambulance. l The brakes of a heavy goods vehicle caught on fire outside the Burrator Inn on Tuesday, week just after 10am. Firefighters from Princetown and Yelverton attended the scene and used one hosereel to tackle the blaze. The road was closed for a short time to allow the lorry to move slowly under a police escort to a near layby.
