POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fight in Tavistock the day after Goose Fair (October 12). The incident took place at around 9pm in Bedford car park ? the site of the fairground ? when approximately 30 men and youths were seen to be fighting with each other. The fight involved makeshift weapons, including lengths of wood and iron bars. Police have so far identified several people were injured as a result of the incident, but they appear reluctant to come forward and give details of what happened. Sgt Richard Nettleship said a public order offence charge could be brought on the statement of someone who saw the incident but who was not directly involved and urged anyone who was in two minds as to whether to give evidence to come forward.
