POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two separate assaults in Tavistock town centre on New Year?s Eve.
In the first, two people were attacked outside Monterey Jacks restaurant by someone in fancy dress.
One of the victims had his head punched against the window of the restaurant, causing the glass to smash.
The incident occurred at around 12.15am on New Year?s Day.
Within minutes of the first assault, two men attacked another man who was with his girlfriend near NatWest Bank on Duke Street.
The victim suffered serious eye injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.
The descriptions of the alleged offenders are: a white man in his early to mid-20s, 5ft 10ins tall, slim build with short brown hair and clean shaven.
He was wearing a smart white shirt which had a pattern on it.
The second man is also white and about the same age but slightly shorter at 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins. He is described as very stocky and rugged looking. His head is shaved but appeared to have a couple of days? growth. The man is believed to be local.

l Police in Tavistock are appealing for witnesses after the theft of alcohol from a premises in Market Road on New Year?s Eve.
PC Nick Burnett said the theft occurred at around 9pm from the East Gate Brasserie.
?Two young white males were seen running off in the direction of Brook Street/Duke Street with alcohol in their hands,? said PC Burnett, who said around £90 worth of stock was taken from the brasserie, including champagne.
