POLICE are appealing for witnesses following reports of an assault in Yelverton last week.

PC Carpenter at Tavistock Police said an incident took place at Yelverton bus stop at around 7.45am on the morning of Monday, March 17.

A young man assaulted a teenage boy in the presence of several other people, apparently for no reason, punching him several times.

PC Carpenter would like to speak to a person who got off the number 12 Blue Flash bus bound for Plymouth, at Yelverton. This person is described as male, white, in his mid or late teens and of slim build.

He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a black jacket with a 'snap back' hat — basically a baseball cap with a large, flat brim. On his feet he wore black trainers with red detailing — these may have been made by Adidas. Immediately after the incident he got into a white van that was parked nearby — witnesses think the van's registration may have begun with a double 'P' or something similar.
