CIRCUS of Horrors, the show that brought circus kicking and screaming into the 21st century, comes to Hall for Cornwall next month. The Asylum is set in an archaic institution on the edge of Paris. A sideshow owner, Doktor Haze, buys the madhouse to present his new show Bloodythirty and Burlesque, but while Paris sleeps the inmates run riot. Beware — the lunatics have taken over the Asylum. The Asylum is an amazing amalgamation of witchdoctors, voodoo acrobats, a pickled person, bendy bodies, demon dwarfs, bloodcurdling stunts and flying vampires. The show is presided over by The Undead Ringmaster Doktor Haze who takes you through this hellish tale with the help of the live devil driven rock 'n‚ roll of the The Interceptors From Hell and a huge uncontrollable cast of burlesque beauties and some of the world's greatest, grotesque, most daring and bizarre circus acts all re-born, re- vamped and rocking. Created in 1995 after a chance meeting (ironically at a funeral) between Doktor Haze and circus impresario Gerry Cottle, the Circus of Horrors made its debut at Glastonbury Festival that year. Since then the Circus of Horrors has toured the world in major venues and festivals, including an arena tour of Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Holland, Fuji Rock Festival, Japan, Tolwood Festival in Munich, Galway Festival, Ireland, Glastonbury Festival (twice) plus arts festivals in Belfast, Stockton, Leeds, Bradford and Brighton and the Leeds and Reading music festivals. It has recently completed a 78-venue theatre tour, the length and breadth of the UK and has appeared on many TV shows. The Circus of Horrors is not suitable for children. The show contains some nudity and bad language, but not of a sexual nature. Strobe lighting and pyrotechnics are used in the show. The performance takes place at 8pm on Friday, January 11.
