A SELECTION of guided walks on Dartmoor is available to ramblers wishing to see the best of the moor?s stunning scenery during the next few weeks. The walks have been arranged by Dartmoor National Park Authority. On Sunday December 12 a four-hour walk leaves Belstone at 10.30am, taking in the summit of Cosdon, Little Hound Tor, Knack Ford, Oke Tor and Belstone Tor. On the same day, there is a talk at the High Moorland Visitor Centre, Princetown entitled Peat, Power and Powder, starting at 2.30pm. The walks continue on December 18 in the South Brent area, with a further trek around Two Bridges on December 19 at 10.30am. For walkers wishing to work off the excesses of Christmas dinner, there is a three-and-a-half hour Boxing Day walk up the River Dart from Postbridge, beginning at 10.30am. The following day walkers can explore the East Okement valley and learn about the influence of people on the landscape. The walk leaves Okehampton Moor, grid reference SX 596 924 at 10.30am.
