SOME train times on the Gunnislake to Plymouth Tamar Valley Line will change with the start of the winter timetable on Sunday.

The biggest change is on weekday and Saturday mornings when the current 08.54 train from Plymouth and 09.45 from Gunnislake will run approximately 15 minutes earlier following requests from the public for an earlier shopping arrival in Plymouth.

The train will leave Gunnislake at 09.29, Calstock at 09.40, Bere Alston at 09.49 and Bere Ferrers at 09.54 and arrive in Plymouth at 10.14.

Richard Burningham, manager of the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, which works to promote the line, said: 'It is really good that First Great Western have been able to meet the requests from the public for an earlier shopping arrival in Plymouth.  The line is going from strength to strength at the moment and long may this continue.'

Julian Crow, First Great Western's regional manager for the West of England said: 'The success of our local services depends on being responsive to our customers' needs and we are happy to make this change for them. The Tamar Valley line is one of the fastest growing branch lines in the country and we look forward to that growth continuing.'
