THE Mount House girls? U12 and U13 hockey teams won their recent encounters against Kelly College. In the U13s an early goal for Mount House from Emily Redman gave the girls the encouragement they needed to raise their game, and from then on they played with enthusiasm and passion. The ball was moved swiftly between players and by half time they were leading 4-0. The goals came from India Leigh 4, Emily Redman 2 and Fern Toynton 2, to make it a final score of 9-1. In the U12 match the Mount House girls stayed calm and kept possession, though the Kelly defence thwarted many of the home team?s attacks before the deadlock was broken. Mount House then added two more to take the match 3-0, with goals from Ellie Hayward, Issy Norris and Imogen Galsworthy. There were more victories for Mount House against Plymouth College. The U12s, under the captaincy of Ellie Hayward, dominated the play and kept the ball moving throughout. They intercepted and tackled well, more often than not coming away with the ball. The half time score was 4-0, and this gave the Mount House girls the confidence to continue their dominance in the second half. Issy Norris and Imogen Galsworthy each scored three goals and Poppy Hartley two. After all their hard work in training, Mount House U13 team deserved their 7-1 victory. The girls passed constructively, allowing their attacks to flow forward rapidly into the scoring circle. Their marking and tackling were as determined as ever.
