Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 2 Porthleven 0 THE Lambs moved up to fourth from the bottom with their second win on consecutive Saturdays against fellow strugglers Porthleven in their attempt to shrug off re election. The ?Fishermen? had to be thankful to their keeper Ryan Holland who kept the score down to some respectability for them. It was a lively start for the Lambs as they put the visitors on the defensive. Holland palmed away a James Cole free kick off the head of Pete Southcott in the opening minutes and two appeals for penalties for the Lambs were waived away. The Lambs applied constant pressure around the half hour mark forcing half a dozen corners in as many minutes but all of them lacked direction. Holland tipped over another effort from Cole with Mark Conday also going close. Despite all this pressure it was the visitors who came the closest to scoring after 38 minutes. A good move saw Mark Pope get free to shoot and hit a post and Meeds did well to get a foot to Pope?s follow up. But the Lambs finished the stronger with another penalty appeal being waived away as Conday appeared to go tumbling in the area. The home side came out full of purpose for the second half. Paul Adcock was able to back heel the ball into the path of James Steer whose shot was brilliantly tipped away by Holland. The breakthrough came after 52 minutes as Conday raced into the area to be brought down by Martin Lentern who was very fortunate to stay on the field of play receiving just a yellow card. Up stepped Cole to lash the ball high into the net. Dan Stidwell then set up Robbie Robinson but his effort hit the side netting for the visitors and Holland denied Steer for the second time before the Lambs got the vital second goal. Will Westlake crossed in for Southcott to turn and shoot, Holland got a hand to it but Adcock reacted to the loose ball to hammer home from close range. Westake headed wide on the hour and 10 minutes later he raced into the area only to be sent tumbling by Lentern. The defender did not wait to be cautioned and was walking off the field but somehow he escaped a booking only for a colleague to go in the book. Cole took the spot kick but Holland was equal to it and brought off a great save. Westlake could only shoot wide following up. A rather inactive last 20 minutes with just Conday heading wide after Adcock set him up with a couple of minutes remaining. A rather anxious first half after chances went begging but when the Lambs went ahead and quickly got the second there was only going to be one winner. All eyes will be on the Callington and Torpoint results to see who will finish in the bottom two. Team, Andy Meeds, Alan Yendall, Fergus Nevin, James Cole, Lee Fox, Mark Wall, James Steer, Pete Southcott, Paul Adcock, Mark Conday, Will Westlake.
