Tavistock v Whitchurch

WHITCHURCH defeated Tavistock by 9 wickets in a friendly played at the Ring.

Tavistock, put in to bat, made a steady start against some tight Whitchurch bowling. An excellent piece of fielding by Mansfield to run out Lapthorne broke the opening partnership and wickets began to fall regularly.

A fine bowling display by all of the Whitchurch bowlers was supported by some high quality fielding and Tavistock were restricted to 107 for 8.

An opening stand of 72 by Rae and Mansfield soon made inroads into the target of 108.

When Rae was dismissed for 17, Mansfield was joined by Sutton and this pair took Whitchurch to victory. Mansfield finished on 59 and Sutton 16.

The game was played in a positive spirit with the two sides fielding a number of colts in their teams.
