Tavistock

TAVISTOCK travelled to Abbotskerswell on a wet afternoon, lost the toss and were put in to bat.

There were two interruptions due to rain and the game was reduced to 31 overs.

Andy Kaitiff and Pete Jones had already got off to a steady start of 28 after 11 overs, but after the rain stopped and tea was taken, they increased the run rate, reaching 71 when Kaitiff was run out in the 16th over.

Captain Dave Manning joined Jones and the score was 94 when he was caught on the boundary. This brought Steve Luffman to the crease for an unbeaten 38. Tavistock made a respectable 165 for 7 after the 31 overs.

Abbotskerswell reach 24 before losing Mitchell in the sixth over, which brought Australian James McMahon to the crease making 68 until in the penultimate over Steve Miles claimed his wicket with a catch by Steve Luffman.

Abbots needed 12 runs to win, but ended the match needing 4, this meant Tavistock had a winning draw.

Craig Alexander also got 3 wickets for 52 and Andy Gauler 2 for 42.

l On Sunday a Tavistock XI took on the Ashley Tossell?s Allstar XI.

Tavistock captain Andy Gauler won the toss and put the Allstars in to bat.

Top scorer was Jude Rotten, with 20 and the team reached 109 all out in 27.4 overs.

Wayne Downham bowled 5 overs for 3 wickets and 25 runs, and Matt Anderson 3 overs for 3 wickets and 9 runs.

Craig Alexander, 37, opened the batting for Tavistock with Andy Gauler (11) and they got the runs required in 20.3 overs. Simon Gliddon took 4 wickets for 48 and Dave Jeffery 3 wickets for 6 runs.

The game ended with medal presentations.
