A WINE and wisdom evening to provide people in Tanzania access to clean water will take place in Bratton Clovelly later this month.

Vivien England of Devon Aid Korogwe, the charity organising the event, said: 'We have all been having more water than we have needed recently with all this rain, and yet the villagers in Korogwe continue to struggle to find enough for their daily requirements.

'Since DAK trustees visited the villages last year, DAK has extended an earlier pipeline to include three more hamlets and a local primary school, where children have to walk miles each day to attend lessons.

'Teachers tell us clean water supplies which DAK has previously provided to villages have helped many more children attend school rather than them being ill with water related diseases.

'Water is life. They are all delighted to have clean and safe water so much closer.

'The district commissioner has written to say how grateful they all are and to acknowledge the good workmanship of the installation.'

The friendly wine and wisdom evening in Bratton Clovelly Parish Hall on Friday, March 28 will support the ongoing work of the charity.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start for teams of six. Any incomplete teams can be grouped on the night.

DAK give families living in rural villages of the Korogwe region in Tanzania access to clean drinking water instead of dirty water taken from rivers and holes.
