SCIENTISTS and artists joined forces at Abbeyford Woods, Okehampton last weekend for a 'Wildlife in the Woods' event as part of the 'Workshop Under the Sky'. Participants got to see the wood's wildlife up close with moth trapping, bug hunts, painting, themed walks and more. The event was organised by Workshop Under the Sky, an organisation which provides nomadic, environmental art workshops in a portable yurt, where budding and established artists work together to enable participants to explore and learn about the natural world around them. The scheme uses scientific methods to identify and explain, then record findings through observational drawings. The group has run a series of events in Okehampton already this year, with a falconer visiting Okehampton Primary School and Okehampton College, and the group's yurt visited Simmons Park for an event with Puzzle Tree. Further workshops include an event to mark The Big Draw National Campaign for Drawing on October 11 in Red Lion Yard and the Museum of Dartmoor Life, and the final event in Simmons Park in April 2015.
