AM I the only member of this community that found Prince Charles? recent visit a complete let down? I?m sure I, as well as most people, donated a contribution towards our new hospital and thought something as major as royalty visiting would have been a large event, drawing on the fact that we accomplished paying for our own community hospital. But no, in true Okehampton style it was played down. The hospital is there for us all and the children are its future. It?s a disgrace that only a select few children were invited. Every royal event I have ever watched on the television has had the whole community there to welcome the royals. You would have expected both primary and secondary students there to be involved. When was the last time royalty visited us here in our own town? This could have been some children?s one and only opportunity to say they had seen a royal, but no they were not given the chance.
