WALKING my dogs across Whitchurch Down I was perplexed to see the sign for the ?Road Race? at 11am on Remembrance Sunday.
Each year I just cannot believe that the organisers and participants have forgotten which day of the year it is. Not only does it send a message that we need not remember, it also disturbs the silence at Whitchurch Churchyard at 11am.
People from this area have been killed, bereaved, disfigured and disabled in recent years, serving their country.
At 11am on Remembrance Sunday we should silently contemplate their sacrifice. We cannot do this if people attend an event which commences at 11am.

I urge the organisers to alter their timings. At the very least I would hope that a minute?s silence be observed.
