TOM Young, in his letter last week, highlighted the dangers to both pedestrians and vehicles of boats being pulled along the road and around a blind corner in order to reach the present launching slip.

Why not move the site entrance as far as possible away from the corner and build a new slip opposite that entrance?

This will greatly increase safety; boats will then only have to cross the road with ample visibility for all concerned. If necessary a 'Lollypop Lady' could be used in busy periods.

It would be a bonus if the material to be excavated from the site could be used in the construction of the new slip. This would benefit the environment, requiring less movement of heavy lorries carrying material to and from the site via the narrow lanes in the Bere Peninsula.
